Pink Sapphire Gemstone Silver Circle Earrings

Pink sapphire gemstone earrings set in a handmade silver setting with a hammered circle surround.

These sapphires are a pretty pale pink colour and measure 2.8mm.  They are a round faceted gem set in a rubover style setting which means the silver is pushed over the gem keeping it secure.

This gemstone is the birthstone of September and the gem for a 45th and 65th wedding anniversary.

Surrounded by a hammered circle these earrings have been handmade in sterling silver; the hammered effect adds a touch of sparkle as the silver moves in the light.

These are stud style earrings with a butterfly fitting on the back. Each stud measures approx 15mm across the centre.

This item will be dispatched in a box tied with a ribbon ready for gifting.

Gemstone and Materials

Sapphires and rubies are in the same family known as corundum and any colour gem within this group other than the red of ruby is classed as a sapphire. This particular sapphire is a lovely pale pink colour; a pretty option for anyone that would like a sapphire in a different colour way to the more traditional blues.

Pure corundum is colourless and sapphires get their hue from impurities within their crystal structures.  In the case of a pink sapphire the colour is from chromium which is present within the gem.

The gemstones are 2.8mm round and has a faceted cut (similar to a traditional diamond cut)

The earrings are handmade in sterling silver with a sterling silver post and butterfly fitting on the back.
