Designing and Making
When did you start making jewellery?
I started jewellery making at my local college as an evening course 20 years ago (not sure how that’s possible?!) and went on to complete my degree in the subject graduating in 2006. Since then I have worked across the jewellery industry in design, retail, manufacture and education. In 2016 I decided to set up my own business full time and I now run and teach jewellery making at Hampshire School of Jewellery; I run Laura Llewellyn Design alongside this.
How do you come up with your designs?
I am inspired by my travels, the things I love and by the gemstones I source. I always want to create jewellery that I would wear myself and that will stand the test of time so you can be sure you are buying something that you can wear every day- I still regularly wear things that I made 10 years ago!
Sometimes I have a set plan at the start of a project and others I start making and see what develops; I love to ask my followers for their opinions as well so head to Facebook or Instagram to get involved!
What is your favourite material to use?
I love to work in silver and my work uses both sterling and fine silver. I enjoy searching out beautiful gemstones to set in my work; particularly bright colours and stones that stand out!
What is your jewellery made from?
All of my jewellery is handmade in either sterling silver, fine silver or on occasion gold and platinum. Each item in the shop will specify the details. We use cubic zirconia, semi-precious and precious gemstones and freshwater pearls in our collections.

Handmade Jewellery
Handmade Jewellery
As each piece of Laura Llewellyn Design jewellery is individually made, please allow for slight variances which make each piece unique and personal to you.
Can you personalise my design?
Yes! We can potentially add personalisations such as initials, a date, birthstone etc to some of our pieces or tweak them to accommodate requests. Please get in touch to enquire using the contact form below.
How should I look after my jewellery?
Please remove jewellery before showering, swimming and going to bed. Store in the box when not being worn to avoid any tangling issues. Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, hairspray etc.
We would recommend cleaning silver with a soft silver cloth if it starts to tarnish at all or just needs its sparkle restored! Avoid using liquid polishes on stone set pieces of jewellery.
Alterations and Sizing
Can I change the length of chain?
Most of our pendants come on an 18 inch chain but it is no problem to change the length at your request. There may be an extra charge to increase the length.
I don’t know my ring or bangle size
We can send you a ring sizer so you can check your size, or you can pop into any jeweller to confirm the size. It’s super important this is right as we will make the ring to the size you give me and we can not return or refund bespoke designs. Please do get in touch with any concerns or queries.
If you have a bangle that fits you, measure the inside diameter and let me know the measurement in millimetres. If you don’t have a bangle that fits, please get in touch for tips on how to measure.
I’ve lost an earring. Can you match it?
We know how frustrating it is to lose a favourite earring; if this happens please get in touch and we will do our best to make you a replacement. If the earrings have a stone set we may ask for the remaining earring to be sent to us to colour match it.
Do you offer a repairs service?
All of our jewellery is made to last, but of course sometimes accidents and breakages happen. Please send an email including a photo to info@laurallewellyndesign.com so we can see what we can do for you.

How is payment taken?

I hope you fall in love with your new piece of jewellery as soon as it arrives but if there is a problem please get in touch within 3 days of receipt by contacting info@laurallewellyndesign.com. Please then return the piece to me in its original packaging within 14 days of receiving the item. Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.
I recommend the item is returned by a tracked service as I can not be held responsible for parcels that go missing. Please include the original purchase information in your parcel.
Return policy on bespoke design- Including special sizing requests, personalised items, completely bespoke design
Unfortunately, unless they arrive damaged or faulty we can not refund or exchange the above items as they have been made especially for you. Having said that we do want you to be happy so please get in touch if there are any problems.
Hallmarking
Will my piece be hallmarked?
If your piece of jewellery weighs over 7.8 grams for silver and 0.7 grams for gold then as per UK law it will be hallmarked.
Our assay stamp is located at the London Assay Office so your item will have the London stamp, a metal fineness mark, the year it was hallmarked (denoted by the relevant letter stamp) and our personal stamp which is LJG.
If you would like a hallmark on a piece of jewellery that will be under the required weight it’s no problem but this will incur an extra charge.

Bespoke Design
How does creating a bespoke design work?
Once we have an idea of what you would like to make we can start making your vision a reality! We can produce sketches of the design idea and will always quote in full for the work before starting any work.
How long does it take to make a bespoke design?
If it is an alteration to a collection item please allow 1-4 weeks. For a bespoke item once we have agreed on the design please allow 4-8 weeks as this includes time to source materials and for hallmarking if required.
Need a bespoke design quicker?
Please get in touch to discuss your requirements as we would love to help.
I’d like to get something made but I’m not sure on the design
Please get in touch and let’s have a chat. Tell us or send us photos of the kind of things you like, your favourite colours and styles. We can then come up with some ideas and there’s no obligation to go ahead as we want you to love anything you do have made!
Gift Options
Can you include a message in my order?
Absolutely, just let us know what you would like the message to say when you order and we will include it in the parcel.
I want to buy a gift for someone but I’m not sure what they would like.
We completely understand that it can be hard to know exactly what the recipient would like. We offer gift vouchers which can make a great surprise and then you can design the piece together. We can also source a gemstone to be given as a gift and we can design a piece of jewellery around it at a later date.
